I create one-of-a-kind folk art ........always with a pun! I like to say that you can see my fingerprint on everything I make.........even literally sometimes. For me the journey of creating art is usually more important than the resulting art. I am almost always on a new trip somewhere, most often without any preconceived notions of where I am going. To forget any artistic techniques I have learned and to make mistakes is my freedom in creation.
What I make may take the form of figurative sculpture, ornamentation, collage, assemblage, or torched tin. I may use a variety of materials such as; a found object or objects, fabric, clay, papier mache, paper, wire, tin, paint, etc. Nothing is held sacred. Anything can become art, or at least used in an artistic way. I draw the inspiration for each creation from the raw materials that I gather around me, and the pun that is always implied. When I use a found object, I look beyond its original intent and form. I do the same with all the raw materials I use. I try to see the potential in everything, and combine the materials in a new way to create a humorous tale.
The art of Halloween is my passion. I do it year round in addition to other themes, and seasonal work.
